The Federal Reserve has cut interest rates in dramatic fashion. The intended boost to the economy is a bust for savers.

Best option for you. BBC Foundation, a ministry of Baptist Bible College & Seminary, offers a Revocable Charitable Trust that may be the best option for you. A Revocable Charitable Trust provides a high interest rate and protects your principal so it can be withdrawn at any time without penalty. It also provides a way to pass assets directly on to your family and charity without the delays and cost of probate.

Spiritual benefits. When you create a RCT, you support the students preparing for ministry at BBC&S. Also, a minimum of half the balance in your RCT at death becomes a gift to BBC&S. You can even direct the specific ministry you want to help. You can leave your remaining balance to family or another ministry. BBC Foundation does require a minimum of 50% of the trust balance at death to become a charitable gift to Baptist Bible College. The remainder may be left to family, BBC, or other charities.

Rates are higher than most CDs. Rates are currently above five-year CDs. This is not a teaser rate. Here are some other details:

• Money can be added or withdrawn at any time without penalty upon submitting a 30-day written notice. There is no requirement to replace moneys that are withdrawn and additional funds may be contributed at any time (in amounts of $100 or more).
• Investments are professionally managed, and your principal is protected.
• Assets remaining in the RCT at death bypass probate, saving 5-10%. And the trust can be transferred to an irrevocable trust for tax advantages and even higher income.
• Accounts can be created by individuals or couples.
• Assured income during your lifetime. The principal is protected.
• This type of trust is not tax-deductable.
