Five Wishes
Dying with Dignity
What do you want to happen when you can't decide for yourself?
Unless you take steps ahead of time, important medical and family-related decisions will be made for you if you become seriously ill.
While you may believe what you want is what other people – your loved ones and doctors – desire, that may not be true.
You can act now, and BBC Foundation can help you.
Five Wishes is a free legal document that can be used by you to communicate end-of-life wishes to family and medical professionals. It includes:
- The person you want to make care decisions for you when you can’t. Attorneys refer to this as a “durable power of attorney for health care.”
- The kind of medical treatment you want or don’t want. This is referred to as a “living will.”
- How comfortable you want to be. This describes the kind of treatment you want – or don’t want.
- How you want people to treat you. This enables you to maintain your dignity.
- What you want your loved ones to know. This gives you the opportunity to explain to others how you want to be remembered, what is on your heart, and other matters.
We can provide a free seminar at your church or with your seniors group. We have seen entire adult congregations request this meaningful tool. Your church can also use Five Wishes as an outreach event.

Senior Estate Planning Seminar
We also offer a Senior Estate Planning Seminar. It is free and can be done right in your church. This event usually lasts one hour on a weekday.
We have taught over 1,000 Christians on biblical estate planning. The results have been positive, including:
- 98.3% include the Lord’s work in their estate plans.
- 89.1% include their local church or Christian school.
- 31.6% of total assets are committed to the Lord’s work.
During our seminar, we also cover:
- What the Bible says about stewardship.
- How to own assets and leave an estate to children.
- What to do if you become a widow (80% of women will become widows).
- How you should plan to deal with possible incapacity.
- The types of investments should a Christian consider.
- How much should be left to the Lord’s work.
Only 5 to 10 percent of Christians include the Lord’s work in their estate plans.
BBC Foundation can help your senior saints learn how the cause of Christ can be advanced in your community and in your ministry. After the session, we can stay behind to offer free, individual counseling sessions to your members. We can encourage them to work with a Christian attorney in your area and will report to you about future gifts that your church or other ministries could receive.
Your members are under no obligation to include Baptist Bible College & Seminary in their estate plans.
